Board of Governors

Lagan College's Board of Governors works to ensure that as a school, we provide the best possible education and learning opportunities to all our students in an integrated and inclusive setting.

The Board of Governors supports the work of the Principal and the senior leadership team in maintaining the School’s integrated vision, ethos and values. The Board ensures that the school has a robust strategic plan in place and is adhering to statutory legislation.

The Board of Governors provides both challenge and support to the Principal, who is responsible for the day to day management of the school, alongside the staff team. The Board of Governors is comprised of nominees from the Directors of Lagan College, the Department of Education, as well as elected Parent Representatives and elected Teacher Representatives.

The Principal is the Secretary to the Board of Governors.

Mr Francis Martin CBE

Chairperson and Directors’ Representative

Mr Martin joined the Board in 2007. He is Managing Partner of Forster Chase, based in the City in London, with 29 years' experience working at BDO Northern Ireland. He specialises primarily in the area of corporate finance. Mr Martin has been committed to the strategic development of Lagan College since 2007.

Mr Graeme Kane

Chair of the Finance Committee and Directors’ Representative

Mr Kane is a Finance Director with Punjana Tea, a chartered accountant with experience in both public practice and industry. He has been involved in training, education and development and applies this experience to his school governor role.

Mr Vincent Cafolla

Chair of the Education Committee and Directors’ Representative

Mr Cafolla recently retired from his job as Property Services Manager NI for Barnardos. He continues to work as a volunteer and has a life-long interest with Corrymeela. Both of Mr Cafolla’s children attended Lagan College. He is enthusiastic about DIY and gardening.

Ms Sheina Rigg

Directors’ Representative

Ms Rigg’s children all attended Lagan College. Ms Rigg is employed as a Social Worker for the Belfast HSC Trust. She is the Governor appointed to oversee Child Protection within Lagan College and she is actively involved in the rights of children and humanism.

Mrs Patricia Woods

Directors’ Representative

Mrs Woods is a keen supporter of integrated education and has also been Chair of the College’s Parents’ Council. She has over 30 years account management experience in private industry with a particular interest in marketing. Both of Mrs Woods’ children attended Lagan College.

Mr Adam Turkington

Directors’ Representative

Mr Turkington is a freelance creative producer and events manager. He works with Street Art and festivals. Mr Turkington is also the Chair of Vault Artist and is generally interested in finding creative ways to build community across religious, class and political divides. Mr Turkington has two children who have attended Lagan College.

Mr Adrian Harvey

Department of Education Representative

Mr Harvey is a Director of Trevor Smyth & Co Solicitors specialising in the area of criminal law. He has four children to which he devotes the majority of his free time. In his spare time, Mr Harvey also enjoys music and rugby.

Mrs Georgina Campbell OBE

Department of Education Representative

Mrs Campbell retired from her work in the Northern Ireland Assembly as the Head of Governance. In recent years Georgie has worked with her local primary school assisting pupils with their reading and has been engaged in voluntary work.

In her leisure time Mrs Campbell enjoys local history, socialising, reading and cooking.

Miss Sarah Lightfoot

Department of Education Representative

Miss Lightfoot is a lawyer in the Public Prosecution Service of Northern Ireland, dealing with a range of criminal offences. She is a past pupil of Lagan College. In her spare time she enjoys travel, hiking and yoga.

Dr Scott King

Department of Education Representative

Dr King is an award-winning business growth advisor, entrepreneur, investor, published author and Chartered Engineer.  For over 20 years’ Scott has worked and travelled across the globe providing direction, assistance, and leadership to an ever-expanding list of multi-sectoral organisations, ranging from new starts to SME’s, globally recognised brands, and public sector organisations.

Mr Ben Searle

Parent Representative

Mr Searle is a forest manager whose day job includes helping to plant new woodlands all across Northern Ireland. When not at work he is immersed in family life which increasingly revolves around three busy children and is a member of Christian Fellowship Church.

Dr Scott Boldt

Parent Representative

Dr Boldt is an educational researcher, author and coach with Big Picture Learning International, working with schools across the US as well as in Ireland, Italy, Kenya, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK. He is an Associate of Leeds Beckett University and a Professor of Practice with the University of Wales Trinity St. David and the University of Cumbria. Dr Boldt has two children in Lagan College and in his spare time he enjoys playing ice hockey.

Mrs Helen Walker

Parent Representative

Mrs Walker is a teacher at Loughview Integrated Primary School. She is also the owner of the after school club, Stay and Play. She has two daughters at Lagan College and enjoys visiting Donegal with her family in her spare time.

Mrs Paula Anderson

Parent Representative

Mrs Anderson works in Human Resources with a focus on employment law, mediation, employee relations and performance management. She is strongly committed to the development of integrated education. Family life is her main priority and her spare time is spent with her husband and their three sons enjoying watching and supporting their various sporting activities.

Mrs Laura Mulholland

Teacher Representative

Mrs Mulholland is Head of Senior School Teaching and Learning. She is also an ICT teacher in Lagan College. Mrs Mulholland was nominated to reside on the Board of Governors by the teaching staff.

Miss Jacqueline Rogan

Teacher Representative

Miss Rogan is Head of Year 13 and works as an Art Teacher in Lagan College. She was nominated to reside on the Board of Governors by the teaching staff.
